Charles, the teddy bear, finally finds a master who knows how he feels and doesn't neglect him. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is one of my favorite childhood books. We about wore out the library copy. I was thrilled to find a used one to read to my own children a few years ago. The pictures are just delightful; the story is beautiful. I get a lump in my throat reading it. Sadly, this world is full of people like the mean little girl. But there are also lots of wonderful people like the boy. It's written so well and the pictures are a perfect match. This deserves to be reprinted!
An Old Favorite

I loved this book as a child and now I enjoy reading it to my kids. Charles is a toy bear given to a bratty little girl who does not appreciate him for who he is. "If I were a real bear," thinks Charles as she mistreats him, "I'd bite her smartly on the leg!" He is sad because he belongs to nobody, and nobody belongs to him. Then one day the girl trades him to a little boy for one of his kittens. The boy and Charles the bear get along famously, of course, and Charles' wish of belonging to someone is finally fulfilled.
