If only all diet and fitness books distilled their message in such an easy to read, user friendly edition. Mr. Hunt makes an excellent case for reviewing our blind allegience to the food pyramid, by turning not to the confusion perpetuated by constantly changing studies, but to over 2-million years of human development. He also breaks new ground by simpilifying it all into a complete program of diet, fitness and supplementation that anyone can follow.
Great cutting-edge book that questions reigning diet dogma

This book will teach you more in one short reading about what a truly natural human diet looks like than anything in the thousands of gimmicky, dogma-ridden books about low-fat high-carbohydrate diets ever will.A simple, workable program that I know for a fact has worked very well for other people I know. This is definitely worth checking out, and is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Other books which examine the REAL genetic history of human beings and how we really evolved to eat and live will undoubtedly come along soon. Charles has the right message at the right time. If you've experienced years of frustration with low-fat, low-calorie diets, buy this book!
Overall, a very good book

I have been following something similiar to "Diet Evolution" for the past year. I wish I had this book when I began because of all the stops, starts and misinformation about "Paleodiet" programs. Hunt's section on exercise is a real help, other books that emphasize "Hunter-gatherer" eating rarely discuss this key aspect of fitness. Hunt's personal insights are also very good, especially the bad information he had to overcome following his heart attack. I do wish he would have spent more time explaining "play days," although, upon reflection, perhaps someone who needs to define and structure "play" has to spend less time with work. I enjoy his simple to follow "menu" of applying the program, basically, one, two, three. He makes it seem very easy to get going on this "Way of Life." From my experience, it is, but I had to learn a lot of this the hard way. I wish he would have expanded the exercise section for advanced training or athletes, although, as I stated, no other book includes any information on this area at all. I highly recommend this book and also wish to give a nod to Hunt for his good sense of humor throughout the text. The book also provides a handy chapter that undercuts the current religion of high carbohydrate living that is turning America into a land of obesity. Certainly, this book is worth the money and the time to read. Moreover, it is worth following the simple advice found inside.
Great Book! Easy to Follow & Highly Effective. This is it!

I've had the good fortune to read the pre-release copy of Charles Hunt's Diet Evolution: "Eat Fat and Get Fit!" and try the program for three months. Unlike most diet and fitness books, it's a great read and Charles personal story is amazing. The program itself is the most user friendly I've ever seen, as well as increadably effective. It's simple to follow without any deprivation at all. I was so relieved to finally understand what foods our body actually evolved to eat, and because of that, that I could eat foods like steak, bacon and eggs without fear. In fact, eating those foods (and more), I lost 35 lbs. in 2 1/2 months, without counting or measuring anything and look better than I did in college! At 57, that's amazing. I was also pleased that it included over 200 tasty recipes keeping the diet interesting for me-- it was also like getting two books for the price of one. Don't miss this one!
