Like reading 10 books at once!

We all know there are a million and one baby book authors out there...but there's only one Marla Taviano! Her writing is refreshingly honest and a great encouragement to new moms. She writes from her own experiences while encorporating words of wisdom from Scripture as well as from many friends. It's like getting tidbits from a dozen or so baby books while only having to read one! Buy the book, read it, and pass it on to your friends...it's worth every minute you spend reading it!

encouragement in the trenches

i found this read to be a great source of encouragement. i read the book pretty quickly the first time around. it is an easy read, for sure. but i have found myself re-reading selected portions that i really found encouraging. the author writes in a way that speaks to the common mother inside all of us, whether we stay at home, work, provide a scheduled environment or fly by the seats of our pants. when we are in the trenches with our little ones, doing our best to raise them in a Godly home, we find great encouragement in knowing others are there with us. and best of all, the author is constantly pointing us towards the Jesus Christ as the source of our strength.

For Every Mother!

Marla Taviano's book on motherhood will inspire, challenge, and encourage "older" mommies, new mommies, soon-to-be mommies, and one-day mommies! I really enjoyed the casual, conversational tone of the book and found the stories of everyday life as a mom to be uplifting and humorous. Marla's practical advice will go a long way to encourage all moms out there. If you're a mom or will one day be a mom, buy this book!

Not a how-to, but a WHY-to

The purpose of this book is not to tell you how to raise a child. Or to make you feel crummy for not doing motherhood by the book. Instead, Marla Taviano shares real stories from her experiences as a mom and from the experiences of many, many other moms. She offers encouragement to be the kind of mother in your family that God has designed and ordained you to be. Her writing is infused with humor, with wit, with poignant examples, and most importantly, with Biblical truth. Her style makes sense to a busy mom. You can pick up this book and read a chapter in the small moments of calm you find in your hectic day. You can skip around to parts that seem especially pertinent to your current line of thought. You will definitely return to many passages in this book again and again. Reading this book allows you to slow down and really reflect on what a journey motherhood is. You can examine how you've changed and grown, how you've adjusted your expectations and your methods, how you want the whole parenting adventure to turn out, for baby AND for you.

Great Encouragement for Moms and Moms to be

This book is a great blessing for any mother who is looking at her life and wondering, "What in the world did I get myself into?!?!?" Marla writes in a way that feels as if you are talking to her over coffee. Very friendly, very understanding. Just when you think you are the only one who has had "those feelings" or had a child who did the worst thing ever, there is a story of a friend who has been there. She offers encouragement and hope for all of us mothers who feel like we don't accomplish anything of value all day long. It turns our focus away from the laundry, dishes, screaming children and barking dog and puts it right on what really matters. This book is real, it's emotional and it's a must read for all moms.
