Overachievers

I really enjoyed this book and Summer has helped me keep my daughter's goals in perspective. I have a 9 year old over achiever who doesn't need pushed but needs encourgement and wants us as parents to comment on her achievements. I have learned that not only verbalizing our comments but showing her through our actions that we approve of her achievements. I learned that through this book. I picked this book up because of the attachment to swimming, but it definately carries over into all corners of our lives.

Thanks a million, Summer!

Summer was raised to be the type of person who gives something back and leaves the world a better place. This book is a superb effort. As the father of kids who swim and play other sports, it was a great reality check for me. It went further it reminding me what great parenting is all about - having fun with your kids, being there to support them always, developing adults with the confidence to make their own decisions, learn from failures etc. I was also intrigued in that her most cherished memories are not her medals but the camraderie she enjoyed. I saw a TV interview with the great French rugby star Jean-Pierre Rive and all he remembers now is the friendships he forged through sport. This is a great book which I would like to thank Summer for writing.

A must read for parents of competitive children

This book is full of wonderful information on how to raise happy active children. My daughter loved reading it. It was a great reminder of why she loves swimming.

You must read this book!

I wanted to preview a few chapters of the book before I gave it to my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. Needless to say, I read it from cover to cover. Summer Sanders writes, in plain English, about her parents' roll in her successful swimming career. This book should be required reading for any parent who has a child who participates in sports!

GO SUMMER!

This book is really good. The author is great! I recommend this book to everyone! She has done a great job on TV and in her personnel life! GREAT ROLE MODEL!
