AN INTRODUCTION TO REALITY--

Whether we acknowledge it or not death is an inevitable part of life. Many, in our country today, are in a state of denial. This book deals so beautifully with the death of a grandparent as well as showing the love and continuity of family. It gently describes the sense of loss, fear of attending a funeral and ends with an understanding and acceptance of reality. This beautifully written book would help a child deal with death which is an inescapable fact of life.

Good for teaching about family values and closeness.

I think this book could help any child who has lost a loved one. It shows how the family is knit together, not only those now living, but generations that have gone before. I would suggest it as a book to read aloud to kids if a grandparent or other elderly friend is nearing the end. It might help them to be read the book and get a chance to discuss it with the reader.
