This was a very charming and humorous story that many "drama queens" (or parents of them) are going

Celestine's parents knew that even before she was hatched from that egg that she was going to be something very special. Her mother hovered over the swaddled egg as her father looked on. "Tappity-tap, tappity-tap." As soon as she hatched from that egg she was "ready to be a star" and looked the part. She dressed like one and took great pains to "create just the right look." Those sunglasses were something else! Celestine was so prissy she even complained about her food. "Oh, Mommy! You know stars only eat pink food!." Her brothers and fathers just smiled and didn't seem to notice. At school Miss MacDonald was informed that her name was Princess Druscilla Drake, " a much better name for a star. Soon they would be having their school play and Celestine, er, Princess would have a part. She knew her lines perfectly and wondered where her "red carpet" was on the day of the play. She sauntered out onto the stage. "Pitter-pat, pitter pat," but something was terribly wrong! What was Princess Drucilla Drake going to do now?!!! This was a very charming and humorous story that many "drama queens" (or parents of them) are going to love. The art work is very appealing and catches the drama of this little Princess perfectly. This would be a fun book to read during circle or story time. If you want a few giggles just try reading this one to a gaggle of little ones!

Great book for pre-school age drama queens

We love Celestine. She's a spunky duckie with a flair for the dramatic (so her parents knew from the time she was in her shell). She leaps at the chance of participating in the school play. Celestine is not the lead - everyone gets a small part - and Celestine assumes that her debut will go smoothly. Alas, Celestine gets stage fright and forgets her lines. She ends up doing a little dance and is a star in her own way, even if she didn't remember her lines. Along with the cute storyline, the book has very sweet illustrations. The text swirls along with Celestine and overall, the book is visually pleasing. This is a great choice for fancy pre-schoolers - fans of Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious, Katy Duck will enjoy.
