CEH: Review

Very helpful summary after class prep reading then taking the class. This book helps pull all the material together very well. Very good study guide.

Not only for the CEH exam

This book is great. Why? Well it's not just because its a great study guide for the CEH exam (Certified Ethical Hacker), but also for the amount of info crammed into a small book. If you're wanting to learn the basics of ethical hacking, then this is the book. Its a quick read, packed full of interesting workable senarios. What this book is: 1. A great book for your junior security people. 2. Very easy to work through the chapters as labs. 3. Lots of references to cool programs you can find and download. What this book isn't: 1. Your not going to learn any code. 2. If you're already a better than average hacker this book is not for you. 3. You won't get CEH certified with this book as a stand alone. 4. You do need a basic understanding of networking, security and systems. (This book isnt hacking for dummies).

Extremely Pleased

I concur with comments made by Gagan, Dahlin, and Beam 63. Extremely pleasde with the book: It is what I expect, excellence, out of the publisher Sybex, and why I keep returning to books published by Sybex. Sybex continues to pick good Authors. I believe this book is worth two reads, cover to cover. Once prior to taking the formal in-class CEH course, to set the stage. Then, read again prior to taking the exam to keep you focused on the exam objectives without getting lost in thousands of pages of course material. For the nay sayers. Take 5 extra seconds to read the title. Particulary the part in Red, which says REVIEW GUIDE.

I find this to be a very important summary review guide, it is only 200 pages. It goes to the core of the CEH exam requisites. There are other books that you should also use, other books, just don't depend on one book. The following is a detailed book with about 50 or so labs, you need to start using the tools of the trade, and this book will start you off from get go. Certified Ethical Hacker Exam Prep (Exam Prep 2 (Que Publishing)) by Michael Gregg

Right on Target!

This book is a perfect review for people who are knowledgeable on the subject of ethical hacking, desire certification, and want that last minute review and prep guide before going in for the exam. It is cost effective and to the point! Many guides already exist to teach the subject of ethical hacking. This official guide sums up exactly (and only) the CEH exam objectives as presented by EC-Council and provides practice tests. Studiers can rapidly recognize areas they need more focus on before testing. Great job!!
