GET THIS BOOK! Even for other exams! CCDP. CCNP

I wish I had bot this when it first came out a month+ ago. Now I find I need it immediately, because it actually covers lots of the material needed for the CCDP exam. Yes, it's HEAVY on technical details, but even if you don't memorize everything, enough may stick in your mind to help you guess the correct answer to the many obscure & tricks Cisco test questions.And yes, it covers a few suddenly now-obsolete topics, but you can easily SKIP those FEW pages (you did read the Cisco exam objectives, I hope!). And it provides uniquely appropriate coverage of the newly-added topics: IS-IS, a little security.(It "adaquately" covers PIX config in 2 pages!) IF you go beyond CCNA, get this now (30% off), before (like me) you wish you had.

New Exam is NOT New! Same Material, New Question Pool

The new exam is NOT new, they just rewrote the questions. The material is the same, YES it still has Token Ring and YES you still need to know RIF fields. Go to the Cisco web site find the truth. Never listen to 'rumor'. This book follows the exam better than any other exam. It is a little light on the token ring side but maybe that is because Cisco will have less questions on it, I hope. This book is the way to go and many people that passed it agree with me (at Networkers).

Will closely track exam content.

No book by its self can possibly prepare someone for the CCIE Exam, if there was such a book it would be several thousand pages. But what this book does provide is a detailed outline of exam topics, intoducing you to each topic and providing info at the end of each chapter on were to find out the details. After checking with Cisco Press and looking at the New Exam blueprint this book touches on all the topics listed on the blueprint. A great place to start preparing for the new R & S exam or as a final brush up. This book along with the Doyle books, the CCIE LAN Switching and the Halibi BGP book and your all set.

Above comments not quite acurate...

I've always been a fan of Cisco Press books (except for CID), but I'd like to clarify the comments that the previous poster made.Please note that Cisco's site states:"The CCIE Program is proud to announce the upcoming release of the revised CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam (350-001). The new version of the exam will go live, and replace the current exam, on August 7th, 2002. Note: The revised exam will consist of 150 questions and be 180 minutes in duration."From what I can gather, it's just a revised CCIE exam that's keeping the 350-001 number. Anyhow, the CCIE program manager supposedly had his hand in the development of this book so I sure hope I'm right.

At last

At last, a Cisco Press book dedicated to the written.The previous reviewer has no clue about the cert. What he missed is that the new version will also be called 350-001 (I am not a cisco employee, just a cisco fan). Based on the sample chapter and content of the book offered by other web sites, I can say that it is a book for the new exam version. It covers every topic listed in the new exam blue print, and this is the main reason why I give it 5 stars,Regards.
