Lured out of early retirement, master detective Adam Steer partners with the cops of Precinct 13 1/2 to solve the kidnapping of newspaper publisher, ostrich Madam Griselda Portentsky. But the ransom... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Do you like puns? Well, get ready for a ton of fun, then, cuz this book has puns galore! Just take a look at the names of the characters (Adam Steer --- and that means he's a what? a duck?). This is a fun mystery full of "old style" film noir atmostphere, but without any of the scary stuff. It looks like it might be for littler kids, say 8 and up, who might read it themselves, but when you read the book, you'll instantly know that it's for anyone of any age to enjoy. It's also enjoyable to read out loud, if you do that sort of thing at home. (And if you don't, well, really you should try that sometime. Reading out loud to your kids can be fun and an easy "bonding" activity.) The characters are well drawn, which is good, cuz apparently the author comes from a cartoon background! Over all, it's pretty much just like the cover - cute, cartoony, and accessible for all.
Great read anytime...

Hi, I've read the book twice and enjoyed it more the second time around. The book has been borrowed between reads and both people said they are going to buy the book and give away. My oldest grandson (15) said he liked it very much. I know of at least 4 people who have read my copy. Anyway, it's a great read for any young adult or older child as well as, of course, adult. Buy it, you will like it. I understand this author has a new book later on.
Clever and Unique Mystery/Comedy for Young in Heart and Mind

How can you not love this tongue-in-cheek story, that has characters with the names of Chief of Police Pork, Lt. Cluck and Madam Portensky, a/k/a Griselda (Grissie). Of course, the names fit the porker, rooster, and feathered bird. Dawn has created a very clever and unusual story with anthromorphic figures (animals acting like humans in this case), and a fun plot, in which Griselda's fabulous black pearl (given the name MooMoo) has been stolen. The adventures are fun, a romp on a grassy knoll, with a tiny bit of nuanced innuendo. My sense in this age of superspeeded youth, is that many pre-teens would enjoy this book that has some good cartoon illustrations by the author. On the other hand, for those of us who have taught these superspeeded kids, it's also a fun read and leaves you with a smile at the end.
Cattle Capers

Cattle Capers #1 was very fun to read. The characters are all original and real to the reader. Dawn Kravagna wrote this story with humor, mystery, and a love story about these great characters and I could not put the book down until I finished reading their worderful adventure
