My renewed interest in Robert Shields came very unexpected....I was watching "Family guy" and during one of the shows great references to pop culture "Shields and Yarnell" was mentioned. Well this spiked my memory and I recalled my love of them during the 1970s and 1980s. Upon my investagation of "Shields and Yarnell" I was amazed to find out that Robert Shields is a very accomplished artist in many different mediums. Upon visiting his website [...] I learned of a book he had written and knew that I must find it.This book is a combination of art meets art...by this I mean one can learn a great deal about the talent behind Robert Shields and be surprised at what he is all about. Its both a great read and a visual pleasure.
The Coffee Table Series, #3

This is a good story: I stayed in a hotel in Sedona, AZ--time spent with my sisters. I came from the workout room to the gift shop owned by the subject of this book, Robert Shields. I was sweaty, had my hair atop my head in a puff ball, and intended to take a minute before showering to appreciate the beautiful art and jewelry in this unpretentious shop. Lo and behold, a good-looking man bursts into the store, welcomes my sister and me, and indicates that the metal sculptures were his, the jewelry was his, the store was his, and--oh yes--the man on the television screen projecting into the room, a mime from a 1970s show called "Shields and Yarnell," was HE, the man himself--Robert Shields. He was so charming and the art was really, so beautiful and original that I had to buy this book. Then, and I didn't know this for another week, I found a photo of a necklace design called "The Sacred Bear," which I had purchased in Tucson years ago. I OWN this necklace and it's one of my favorite pieces. Was it kismet I met this darling artist and now have his book on my coffee table? I think yes. This is a beautiful book from a multi-talented artist. Michele Cozzens, Author of A Line Between Friends and The Things I Wish I'd Said.
Funny, poignant, respectfully irreverent

This book inspires readers to their highest personal potential while being beautiful and intellectually stimulating. Who knew a mime could say so much?
