This is the children's holiday book I've been waiting for! It is a book that goes beyond Santa, Frosty and Rudolph. Thank goodness! This story helps your children understand that not everyone celebrates Christmas, and that we should not only accept, but value, everyone's customs and celebrations. The book describes Hanukah, Ramadan and Kwanzaa in a way that children (and adults!) can understand. It's a book that teaches something to the adult who's reading the book as well as the child who's listening. I loved seeing the different dogs in this story. I especially liked the wise old dog who explains the holidays to Casey and Reba. The illustrations are wonderful!I think this book should be in every school library. We try to teach children about diversity and celebrating differences, and here is a great way to do that during the holidays! A great gift to give to grandchildren!
