Wonderful Carving Book w/Great Pictures! Highly Recommended!

"Carving Fantasy & Legend Figures in Wood" is a great book for the entry level or intermediate carver. I am just starting out in carving and found the projects challenging, but not out of reach. The sections on tools and finishes are a little light and I would have liked more information, but there are other books that cover these areas better. The pictures throughout the book are just fantastic and are very helpful! This really helped me a lot! Highly Recommended!

This is a very good book. The pictures are plain (clear) which makes for easier cut outs and carving. There is plenty of detail but not so much it takes away from the carving. There is good variety for carvers. The carving step by step section is very well written making it easy to follow directions. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in fantasy carving.

Carving in 3D seems more difficult than 2D. Except when you are guided in the process. This is where Shawn does it great.
carving for the beginner

Loved the book but wish he had included a list of good places to find and brands of tools that work best. Also wish he had included a western type dragon besides the oriental one. Good book even for beginners since he shows step by step how to carve all the included designs.
