Very Realistic, a really good book!

Carrie's Gold is I think, my favorite book out of the American Dreams Series. Not only is it totally realistic, but the romance isn't that intense and out of line. Unlike other American Dreams books, it wasn't so overly kissy-dovey and while most of them feature a totally strong and good in every way kind of heroine, Carrie wasn't like that. I mean, she isn't like your perfect girl because she was very ill-tempered and jealous in the beginning, and how the author described Carrie made her very realistic. And the love story- it had real life difficulties and wasn't straight through, "I love you, let's get married." Overall, I loved this book and it had a very satisfying ending. I totally recommend it!

I COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN

CARRIE'S GOLD IS ABOUT A POOR GIRL WHO WANTS HER FAMILY TO BE RICH. HER FATHER DISCOVERS THAT IN CALIFORNIA SOMEONE STRIKED RICH AND IS ON THE WAY TO FIND THE MONEY. ON THE WAY CARRIE MEETS LUKE. COULD HE BE THE ONE CARRIE IS WAITING FOR ALL HER LIFE AND IS MONEY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE?

Great book!

Carrie envies her cousin, who gets to wear silk dresses, while Carrie herself wears hand-me-downs. When her father hears about gold being found in California, Carrie believes all her dreams are about to come true. But through her experiances in the Gold Rush, she learns there is more to life then riches-and discovers true love along the way. This was one of my favorite American Dreams books.

I really liked this book because it was so real.

This book was so real in that the things that happened coiuld really happen and probably did really happen. They didn't stay in one setting like some books tend to do but they moved all around. The love story was good and it didn't get too intense which is another good point. This was just a good book all around.

"Just wanted to get more gold for you", he murmured.

This novel is a romantic type of novel. It takes place during the gold rush era. The main character is Carrie, she is an adventureous type of girl, who has many dreams, but her main dream is to become rich. She always envy her cousin because she always had what she wanted. Her uncle has more money than her father. He owns a store where carrie works, her cousin melinda wears silk gowns while she takes what ever her cousin doesn't want. She doesn't have money to buy her own dresses. When her father tells her that they are going to california in search of gold she thinks that all her dreams are going to become true. On their trip she meets a guy named luke McDouglas. That's when she learns a lesson that she will never forget and finds out that their is more to life than riches, because she always though that the most important thing in life was money. What I didn't like about the novel was the endind I was hoping for a more romantic ending, but apart from that its a good novel that might make you reflect on your moral values.
