still thinking about this series

Caroline was such a wonderful read when I was 14. I remember I couldn't put it down. I reread certain pages over and over because I wanted to be there with her, to make it through all the ordeals and to see if she was going to get the man she had fallen for. You won't be disappointed. **Caroline and Roxanne were my favorite of the Sunfire series. (I must have reread each one three times) A few years ago I went into a book store looking for this series, just to thumb through and to be taken back in time. I was disappointed to see that they were no longer on the shelf and now I find out they are out of print. I am 26 years old and while my taste has matured; I am kicking myself for turning in my collection of these books to a used store when I was 18. ( I had the entire series up to the mid-twenties) If you find any of these books, I hope you enjoy them as much as we reviewers did. It seems as if we are a special reading group. They are wonderful romantic stories of lifes tough personal choices, history, and the importance of family.

Not everyone 'enjoys being a gril'!

Caroline is a 17 year old tomboy looking for love. When her brothers join up with the California gold rush, she begs to acompany them. when they turn her down, she takes matters into her own hands. disguised as a boy named Caro, she travels with the dashing Dan Riddle to California. During the trip, she finds herself falling in love with Dan. Can love overcome all? this is my favorite sunfire! I love this book! i got it from a library, so if anyone knows where to find it, please e-mail me at kathloves2sk8@hotmail.com

BEING A GIRL CAN BE A PAIN . . .

especially if you want to catch a part of the California Gold Rush without a chaperone. Caroline is a highly-spirited and determined lady who will get to California to find her brothers even if it means cutting off her long golden hair and masquerading as a boy. This was no easy task while crossing the plains of the west. If you liked DISNEY'S MULAN- this will probably be a great choice!) This was one of my favorite books as a teen. Sunfire books are romantic, but very safe for young readers. Each book gives great details and insights about exciting times in history. This author kept you guessing up until the end as to which lucky young man would win Caroline's heart. Adventure, romance, history, twists, narrowly escaping danger- what more can you ask for? The sunfire books are great, Caroline being one of my favorite....if you can get your hands on one - DO IT.

Cool book!

Caroline is a spirited teenage girl who wants to have the same adventures as her brothers. But then they go to California to search for gold. The only way Caroline can follow is if she dresses as a boy. Only she falls in love with a young man on her wagon train. How can she keep the secret that she's a girl now that she's in love?

a great historical, romantic, novel

I enjoyed reading this book tremendously! I have read practically all the books in the Sunfire series. My first was Josie, and ever since then I could barely put the other books down. The depth in which each book goes into not only in history, but also in each of the characters, is brilliant. It makes me feel like I was right there in the middle of it all. My only regret is not collecting these books when I had the chance, since it has become such a big part of my childhood.
