great cards

This book is easy to follow. It would be nice if it would have showed how to make these cards with various tools (ultimate crafter's companion). Some of the steps could have been a lot easier. However, it is easy to follow with the one the instructor uses.

Making Cards

This is a great book. I have been using it to create my own greeting cards. My friends and family love it. Easy to understand.

Fun book to inspire creativity

This book has so many cool, fun ideas whether you are making cards or scrapbooking. This one book has volumes of information with easy to follow instructions. It's a must have book!

SHARED IDEAS and METHODS - INSPIRATION TO GO BEYOND

As a long-time paper person, graphic artist, book-maker and use-to-be calligrapher, I seldom buy new books; but I bought CARDS THAT for my desk and additional copies to give as gifts. While the basic projects are fairly simple and can be accomplished with little practice/experience, there is magic in the way Michael Jacobs shares ideas and teaches, and in the way this book flows. It excites and motivates. Projects and suggestions can be completed as shown; but they are open-ended enough to inspire evolution over time with each user. The basics and the tips and variations include "old friends" and projects I've never seen. They also make my mind bubble with new ways to make my work interact, be exciting and appealing. I've already tried personal variations on two projects and have several more on the back burner slow cooking. Michael's clear instructions and samples have kindled in me a dozen new ways to approach two "books" that I've been trying to get from heart to hand for a long time. Get both Michael's books, visit his website ~ TheCreativeZone, and take his classes. I've done it all and will do it again.

Not an ordinary card book!

This is not your ordinary card book. Anyone involved in paper will enjoy these projects. Rubber stampers, scrapbookers, art journalists, collage artists, calligraphers and book artists will find this a useful book, with many ideas inside. The book starts with basic cards and variations, and includes templates to make your own envelopes. Any project that requires a template has one as well. Also included are a good overview of the basics such as how to determine the grain of paper and how to use a ruler. As in the author's first book "Creative Correspondence", the meticulous directions and illustrations that accompany each project make it possible to actually execute each card, even for the directionally confused such as myself. By breaking down complex cards into small steps, the reader is led bit by bit to the finished card. One thoughtful touch is that every measurement in the book is given in inches as well as centimeters, a real plus for those "over the pond". The projects in this book require very few tools, quite a refreshing change, but if you have a bunch of paper punches, brads, stickers and other things hanging around these cards are the perfect place to use them. If you want to make cards that you won't find anywhere else, if you like cards that move, flip and pop up, this is the book to get.
