When Jennet is forced to return to her step-brother Rafe's house to prevent her half-sister Melly marrying Jennet's ex-husband she gets into strife. Rafe, who has a lot of baggage to do with Jennet's mum, doesn't trust Jennet and this isn't helped by the fact that she looks like her mum; beautiful, sexy as hell, with a reputation for behaving like the amoral soap-opera characters she has been playing on television. Here, I should get in quick and point out that Rafe and Jennet, although step-brother and -sister, aren't blood relations because they generate enough sensual fumes to be damned for all eternity if they were. The plot is enlivened by Derek, Jennet's rather ghastly ex-husband; Trent, Derek's cousin who rescued Jennet from Derek's evil clutches originally, and Melly, Rafe and Jennet's half-sister who has a will of her own. (Indeed, Robyn Donald produces Trent and Melly in their own story, a few years down the track from this one - but make sure you read this one first.) The story has a goodly element of suspense as Jennet gets only one real chance to force Derek to reveal his true nature and Donald winds the tension up as the story escalates, laying it on with delicate artistry. In fact this bit of the story is so good that you can forgive the fact that Rafe's projection onto Jennet of his psychological hang-ups over Jennet's mother are a tad unbelievable. Read it and enjoy a romance with some substance to it.
A must read

This is one of the best books that I read from this author. Rafe and Jennet are step brother and sister with no actual blood relationship. Jennet's mother actually makes Rafe buy his own inheritance which makes him very bitter and colors his view of Jennet too. Jennet has made one disastrous marraige and escaped from it with the help of a friend. Now her sister is getting engaged to her ex-husband. She retuns to Rafe's place to convince him and her sister that the engagement is a mistake. The story is very interesting, the character's are strong and the tension between the hero and heroine is electric. This one is a keeperI remeber this book had a sequel where her sister marries her friend who saved her from her ex-husband. That book was good too although I dont remeber the title to review it.
