Jack Romero, attorney-at-law for honest criminals and the occasional personally injured client, carries a horrific past deep in the alcoves of his mind. When Peter Granger approaches him in Club Ritmo to contest his great-uncle's last will and testament, Jack's life takes a hard turn for the worst. After being stalked by a strange woman, and later discovering his mutilated client, Jack learns that he has stumbled onto an old crime that has been kept a secret for over a century. He realizes the answers might be found in the old Miner's Hotel which was at the heart of Granger's legal dispute against his uncle's will. Attempts on his life and flashbacks of his horrific past provide Jack the determination to get to the bottom of his client's murder. With the help of friends and a police lieutenant, they attempt to solve Granger's murder, and accidentally discover the secret to Cantua Creek.
