Killer book

Wonderfull book that in detail explains every accpecet of camp canoe and portage. I am a BWCA adventurer and this book helped with weather maps paddling packing everything you could think of

Great book on equipment

This is an especially good book on equipment. Lots of in depth information on canoe shapes and material trade-offs, paddle types etc. It's very interesting and fun to read. There are sections on paddling too but they are not as elaborately illustrated as some books. Also not a lot of pictures related to river reading etc. But you can't beat this book for equipment.

Great Useful Information

We have done canoe camping before but the new information we picked up about portaging, appropriate gear etc. was priceless preparing us for our trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Anything by Cliff Jacobson must be very wothwhile

based on his "Expedition Canoeing," I am buying this book.

Excellent Canoe Tripping Primer

I was delighted with this book! I lead wilderness canoe trips with groups of adolescents, and found here pages and pages of useful information applying directly to our needs. My copy is bookmarked and highlighted through and through, noting useful tips on topics such as rainproofing tents, removing fishhooks from human skin, portaging gear and canoes, transporting canoes, whitewater safety, solo canoeing...and much more.Any one of Jacobson's tried-and-true tips is worth the price of the book. He gives make-it-yourself instructions for all sorts of useful items for canoeing and camping, as well as lots of sage advice regarding safety issues. There is no "filler" in this book. The auther has been-there-done-that, and this book is a gift for those of us interested in doing the same. Buy it if you're going on a canoe trip!
