MACK BOLAN #65 OR CAMBODIA CLASH

With this book published in May, 1984, it seems unusual my review will be the only one to this point. Even more unusual in that this book is one of better 'Bolan' novels I've read, and I have been reading these GOLD EAGLE action adventure books since around 1984. In a previous book the Excutioner has killed a KGB person in front of the President, right smack dab in the Oval Office, so he is going underground, back on his own to lay low for awhile. Yet he takes a mission in Cambodia and Laos to ascertain the truth or falsehood of captive American POW slave labor. In doing so he works with the Khmer Rouge, Montagnards, the League of Families, and eventually the CIA attempting a prisoner POW rescue. The characters within this story are all unique and interesting, and the combat is fairly realistic and believable. The final battle is one of the most furious of any Mack Bolan book I've read, with an ending in Thailand pleasantly beyond belief. I give this book a 5-star rating and end by saying that it is one of the more enjoyable GOLD EAGLE Mack Bolan books I've had the pleasure to read. Book #65 gives us a Mack Bolan much more ruthless than in some earlier books, with April Rose dead and buried, he doesn't hesitate to brutally kill several people as the need arises, no Sgt. Mercy here. From impersonating a Russian KGB officer, to stealing a North Vietnamese patrol boat, to high altitude parachute jump, to blowing up a Cambodian fortress, this book has more story and more action than one book deserves to have. Great reading with the Executioner back in combat fighting those men with the green pith helmets showing the red star on top. Just like old times fighting against the combat seasoned Vietnamese mountain troops of the burgandy berets. Semper Fi.
