In the California Diaries book that I read was Amalia's Diary. It was a very interesting book it was so good that I did not want to stop reading and I normally do not like to read but I enjoyed reading this one. To tell you a little about the it was about a girl named Amalia and her boyfriend James. They were going through some tough things like fighting, and arguing a lot mostly wondering even if there boyfriend/girlfriend. James,he is sixteen and Amalia she is only thirteen that is a big age difference. Amalia discovers that she likes hanging out with her sister a lot more when she got involved with a volunteer activity it was a Women's Homeless Home. It is as if you were there witnessing the wholr thing,Amalia's little doodles she draws throughout the book helps a lot more. If you want to find out more about the book you will have to read it for yourself. I guarantee that you will like it. I give it five stars.

I absolutly give this book a 5! I think that it is a great book for young adults. It tells a very good story about a girls life. It really feels like reading someones diary. I have read about 6 of the books in this series and i give them all 5's too. anne is just such a wonderful writer (except for the babysitters club).

this was a REALLY good book! but james was a jerk for treating her the way he did. she should have just dumped him in the first place so then she wouldn't have had to go through all that. but then again he was sweet at times though. amalia is cool and I liked the way she acted like she was talking to a person when she wrote in her journal. I also liked the way she called it nbook! I also liked the way she drew pictures in her journal, it made it more interesting to look at. this is a peachy book. keep up the good work martin!

I like Amalia's courage in dealing with her abusive boyfriend. Good thing she dumps him and her friends and sister stood by her! Bravo! It tells girls that no, they do NOT have to put up with abuse. This book was as good as the BSC "Claudia & the Terrible Truth" which was also about abuse. Have Amalia & Claudia met? They should, they're somewhat alike, being artistic and creative and each having an older sister. The California Diaries delve somewhat deeper because it's in a diary form, but the BSC books are just as great. What I like are the first-person accounts that make you feel as if you're right inside the main character's head. Those who claim the BSC are "goody" ought to read deeper. In some ways the BSC books are diarylike.

Amalia Vargas is an 8th Grade that has a boyfriend James who is is 16. James loves Amalia and would do anything in the world for her not to dump him. But James is acting so weird. One day he likes her the other day they're fighting and so on. Amalia's friends think that she should dump James, but James said he would die if she did Amalia has no idea what to do and is totally lost. Read her diary and learn about Amalia and her tough decisions that she has to make.
