A climatic conclusion to a long journey home!

Although Joe Dever is most famous for his outstanding 'Lone Wolf' series, I found the 'Freeway Warrior' quadrology an excellent break from such sorcery/fantasy genre. With a Mad Max style, his adventures take the reader (Cal Phoenix) on an epic journey across America, from Texas to the final destination of California. Through the use of his skills, guns, equipment, and his roadster, Cal must escort his companions to safety from hordes of malicious criminals and biker gangs, all ravenous for supplies and blood. Time after time, he confounds their ruthless attempts to massacre the colony of survivors.In particular, I found Cal's romance with Kate quite a touching moment relieving the chaos of a post-nuclear world gone mad. The three books preceding this one ('Highway Holocaust', 'Slaughter Mountain Run', and 'The Omega Zone') are also thrilling episodes in the one-off series. I hope they will not be forgotten on both sides of the Atlantic!
