Cute Illustrations, Engaging Storyline

Based on an actual event, Calico Cows recounts the tale of a herd of cows, and their leader, Bertha, who watches over everyone else. One day, Bertha is taken to the fair - and the other cows get out through the open gate. What will happen to the cows without their faithful leader to show them the way home? Arlene Dubanevich's illustrations are colorful, fun, and engaging, and keep children fascinated until the end of the book. I would recommend it for children ages 2-7. Ms. Dubanevich is also the author/illustrator of Pigs In Hiding. Harder to find, but well worth the effort; it is my favorite of her books.
