About the Author
Carma Gagne Chan was born in California, raised in Utah, a middle child in a big family. She has four brothers and three sisters. Her parents owned two popular Chinese-American restaurants in St. George, Utah. The first was Jon-Jon's Cafe and later they expanded with The Ricksha. She began writing at age twelve and never stopped. Her choice to be an independent author is matter of survival. Carma has neurodivergent, intuitive, free-spirited, abstract and creative wiring. The idea of a literary manager, agent or commercial publisher telling her what, when and how suffocates her. Carma's science fantasy story, SAARDU, has been praised as "original, refreshing, inventive and highly marketable!" Fellow writers have asserted that her greatest strength is imagination. She leans toward minimalism, especially when it comes to social media. She has no desire for fame, to "fit in", to be popular, or to have a life of grandeur. She finds the diversity of life on Earth and the universe utterly appealing and has always abhorred racism, labels, conspiracy rumors (she will point out that they are not "theories"), and "group-think". She loves nature walks, photography, movies, art, music, science, freestyle poetry, and philosophy. She is a fierce advocate for the innocence and possibilities of childhood, and seeks to inspire kindness and respect.
