Book Overview

Nora is a big girl now, but she still clings to her pacifier when she gets sleepy. One day it falls out of her pocket while she’s playing outside. Ella Elephant doesn’t know what it is, but she thinks it’ll make a beautiful ring for her trunk. When she too loses it, Lotti Lamb finds it and thinks it’ll make a nice hair clip. One by one different animals find the binky and put it to different uses, only to lose it again. And just when Nora finally...

Highly Recommended!

This book really helped us to lay the groundwork to finally take away our three year old daughter's pacifier. At first she just loved that there were binkies in the book. Soon she began to get involved with the story and tell us that the binky was yucky after having been on the ground, etc. Soon I had my daughter tell me the story and she would enthusiastically yell "bye bye binky" at the end. We tried to send the binky away on a balloon but it was too heavy. In the end we got our daughter to throw her own binky away and we used this story to remind her that she was a big girl and didn't need it anymore. My daughter was a serious binky addict and this book really helped us!

We said bye bye binky!!!

So we started telling our baby she was a "big girl" and it was going to be time for her to say "bye bye binky", meanwhile we read this book to her. In the book Nori lets her Binky fly away on a balloon when she realizes she doesn't need it anymore. My 19 month old LOVED the book. A couple days later we went and bought balloons, (BTW 2-3 ballons per binky to get them to float), and told her it was time to say bye bye to her binkies because she was "so big". She let them go herself, (we sent them to "Jesus"), and thought it was great fun. Nap time and bedtime have been harder but we give her a little extra love, and it's not so bad. She has not ever asked for a binky since that day. In fact she's REALLY proud of herself and whenever someone says she's a "big girl" she starts babbling "bye bye binky sky Jesus binky bye bye big girl". She thinks she became a big girl by letting those binkies go, and she loves to talk about it. This book was a big help... and is so very cute... we will keep it forever! Most definately a memory book.

Very cute book

I purchased this book to read to my 3 year old daughter before we took the pacifier away (or as we told her the boom boom fairy). We read it the night the fairy came. My daughter loved the book. It is so funny (she even laughed out loud a bunch of times). This book makes the pacifier seem like it's not a very big deal as the other animals find different and silly uses for it. However, I like how it didn't skip over the fact that Nori did miss it, because I believe it is important to acknowledge a child's feeling. But at the end, it makes the point that Nori is big and he doesn't need it anymore as his friends watch with support. Since taking away my daughter pacifier she has wanted to read this story every night. And I believe in enforces the fact that yes she misses her pacifier, but she is a big girl now.

Cute book

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter. We're trying to get rid of her "Poppy". Hasn't worked yet but this is one of her favorite books. Adorable story and nice illustrations.

Excellent read

My daughter gave up her binky within a week of reading this book. It was a great buy.
