By Study and Also by Faith: Essays in Honor of Hugh W. Nibley on the Occasion of His Eightieth Birthday, 27 March 1990 This description may be from another edition of this product.
Both volumes of "By study and by faith" contain a series of interesting articles on all things "Mormon," and other things too, such as whetehr creaytion ex nihilo is found in the Koran and issues regarding the Coptic Church, etc. My personal favourite essay is that of John Tvedtnes and the Feast of Tabernacles and King Benjamin's speech. This essay along provides very strong evidence conducive to a Semitic origin for the Book of Mormon and refutes the popular anti-LDS claim that the Book of Mormon has no Jewish festivals contained therein. An excellent text in honour of an excellent scholar.

These essays do what Nibley does best: they cover a variety of quirky, off-beat, technical church history topics that are interesting, inspiring and really cover some new ground.
