Get off your butt and live

You probably don't know Sam but if you ever get the chance to meet he or his brother Ben don't pass them by. Sam Glenn is a Christian motivational speaker, writer, chalk artist, and all around funny guy. He stands at a daunting 6' 7" and would scare the pants off of most people but once you get to know him you realize that he is the most gentle person you will ever meet. This is what he said in his book, "Buttprints in the Sand...No More." One night, I had a dream that I came to the end of a beautiful sandy beach, which in essence was really my life, but when I turned to reflect on my life, I didn't see one set of footprints in the sand. In fact I didn't see any. To my disbelief, all I saw were butt prints in the sand. This startled and discouraged me, and I thought for a moment, "Why only butt prints? This cannot be right!" Then the sad truth occurred to me - I had sat life out. Instead of acting on my dreams, I sat. Instead of using my abilities, talents, and gifts to contribute and make a difference, I sat. Instead of persevering through the hard times and moving on with life, I sat. I saw that my life was filled with excuses and lacked a caring heart. I thought how sad this is, to have gone through life and to have left no footprints in the sands of life. Then I woke up and realized it was only a dream. I sat up in my bead and took in a deep breath, then realized I have been given the opportunity of life, rather a gift. This book by Sam gives an excellent call to action for the Christian or the non-Christian. He does excellent seminars and most public schools will let him in to speak because he is a motivational speaker and comedian not a preacher. But regardless of what his title is he is a man of God and he is serving in a big way.
