The silly bugs are having a party. There is so much to do The ants spend many busy hours making patterns with the flowers. They place the flowers two by two. First red, then blue. Then red, then blue. The simple rhyming text and the quirky and cute bug characters make learning about patterns easy and fun
This book is excellent for teaching patterns to children. My 4 year old boy loves this book AND my 2 year old loves it as well. I have made it interactive by asking both boys which pattern comes next. My 2 year old is now grasping the concept of patterns because of this book. For instance, the book describes flower patterns: red, blue, red, blue. Both boys can tell me which color would come next in the pattern. A great book for children who love bugs.

Although created as an early reader, this book is also appropriate for reading with preschoolers. It has nice examples of patterns. The patterns include the following types: AABB, AAB, ABCD, and one growing pattern. It's written in a rhyming fashion and thus the story of bugs putting on a performance unfolds in a fun way.
