When a friend dies in the flames of a wrecked racing car at the Phoenix Grand Prix--the victim of foul play--car racer Forrest Evers decides to investigate. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Racy is probably the wrong word, but you're right there beside him in most of the scenes. Excellent, gripping and fast moving. Forrest Evers, Judd's hero, is sufficently laid back to make him real. This one is, literally, dynamite! Incidentally, my copy is called Phoenix, rather than Burn.
A fun read from a great series

I am not a motor race fan. In fact,to me it seems one of the the more foolish ways to spend a weekend. So why do I love this series? Bob Judd writes an interesting character in Forrest Evers. He's likeable, gets into and out of trouble on a regular basis, and creates an interesting tale doing it. They aren't amateur detective stories in the usual sense: Evers simply gets into difficulties that he has to figure his way out of, and he does this with his expertise and knowledge of the race industry. Parts of the books are slow, but the action scenes are thrilling, and on top of it all, Judd is simply just a good writer. He has created a series that takes a sport I find incredibly boring and written about it in a way that makes it exciting. Most of the covers in this series carry a Jackie Stewart blurb that says "A Dick Francis on wheels", and he's quite right. There is a similar flavour to both of these authors, so if you like Francis, you'll probably get a charge out of Judd's works as well. This series is on my keeper shelf.
