Book Overview

Another rich tapestry......

...of Burn English, his life, and his world. The author again treats us to vivid descriptions of the characters and a simply told, but complicated story of a complicated human being. Burn English has heart, and integrity and for all his roughness around the edges is capable and willing to let his heart lead him to do the right thing. You feel for him, respect him, and you will find yourself wishing him some well deserved comfort. Highly recommended, this author is one of my favorites for his detailed writing and the ability to thoroughly flesh out the characters in a way that transports the reader to another time.

BURN ENGLISH

Very well written and an interesting followup on English Horses. I enjoy his work and knowledge of horses and the West.

Wonderful sequel to The English Horses

I just finished reading "Burn English", a wonderful sequel to William A. Luckey's "The English Horses". Just as much as I enjoyed "The English Horses", I was again equally impressed by the writer's insight and deep knowledge of not only horses, but also the historical correctness, and great feel for what it must have been like to be "Burn English" during the transition period from the open range to fences and the coming of automobiles. All Burn knows is horses, and especially wild horses. He is lost in the world around him, and in his travels north to points unknown, he unintentionally gets held up and involved in two frontier families' own struggles, which overshadow his own situation. The end...? you have to read it to find out! Only complaint - wish the book was longer!
