A Family Classic

We gave our son this book over a year ago. For a child that loves topics that range from real snakes, Harry Potter to Little Critter this is a book as good as any available. It has been read many times over and the family has refrenced passages from the book more than any other children's book. Given we have a full 8 foot book shelf stacked with children's book this is the one that is requested for bedtime the most.

babababba im loving this

Are you feeling hungry today? Bullfrog Pops by Rick Walton is a weird, but cool story. The frog named Bullfrog is like Pac-man, always shutting and opening his mouth. Bullfrog mostly never stops eating in this book. I really think young kids should check it out, especially 3rd graders. The pictures may not be the best, but the background and setting are the best part of the book. Bullfrog Pops has lots of great colors and does not have many words, so this book is good for young kids that love pictures. The way the letters are printed was unique and also the favorite saying in the book, "But, I'm still hungry!" The book's setting takes place in either Texas or Mexico. Kids who love staring at tasty treats like pizza, and at all junk food, especially quesadillas --- you'll love this book. I also love the way the book tells you not to eat too much and not to be greedy about something. I think it's a great book for youngsters. In the middle of the story the town's people try to arrest Bullfrog. I have to say it would be a terrific book to see, look, and checkout at a library near you. The setting matches the book because the food all looks like there from Mexico or Texas. It would be better if they came up with a Bullfrog two. I recommend this book for all ages-rated E. The book is full of laughter and has good pictures and is cool. If you ever go to a library, check out Bullfrog Pops for sure and make me proud. Oh and make sure you read it, ok!

Fun reading with surprises throughout

What happens when one very hungry frog comes to town and starts eating everything he can? From pizza, to watermelon, to bread and anything else he finds, nothing is safe. A fun story with well-done illustrations, it is sure to be popular with all children. One of the things that make this title unique is the way the author ends the page with a partial sentence purposely designed to mislead the reader until they turn the page and read the rest of the sentence. For example one page ends with, "Bullfrog was surrounded. He began to shake..." The following page begins with "... the tree. Down fell the apples." This anticipation and leading off onto the wrong track makes the book even more fun to read. "Bullfrog Pops!" is a highly recommended children's book.

An original and highly recommended little tale!

Living in the old western town of Ravenous Gulch, Bullfrog gets hungry (very, very hungry!) and goest on an eating binge that leaves a lot of people very upset with him! As Bullfrog's appetite and waistline expand he makes a mess of the town. The townsfolk call upon the sheriff who decides to take matters in hand. Chris McAllister's artwork is a perfect complement to each page in Rick Walton's novel and highly recommended little tale, and the pages end as a cliff hangers with a radically different meaning shown on the next page.

Jump at the opportunity to read this book aloud!

I am a children's storyteller, at my last reading, the children chose this book because of the front cover, and loved it all the way through the back cover. The Illustrations command a smile, and the story is great to perform (imitate a bullfrog if you can, kids love it!) this is my favorite of Rick Walton's books. The story has a wonderful chase atmosphere, a 'froggy' version of the "Gingerbread Man." The kids loved the names the Bullfrog was being called as he was gobbling up everything in site: 'Pickle-Skinned Pizza Theif,' 'Canyon-Mouthed Fruit Catcher,' 'Loaf-Liftin Cousin to a Grasshopper.' I read a lot of stories to children...this one was a joy.
