Matter of Survival

I read the book a while ago and thought it was pretty good. No hard core sex, something I was looking for in the sex scene. On the real side Lacy was a strong woman who suffered a lot but still managed to rise above her personal trials especially matters of the heart. It was good to read something different in Buckley book of a woman maintaining some self worth and integrity.

A Must READ!!!

Being a man, I simply enjoyed reading (((Michelle Buckley))) titled book, Bulletproof Soul. The story wasn't just another novel filled with drama but lessons of survival as demonstrated in Lacy's character, a strong, black, single, professional, woman making her way in the world in spite of her personal loss from the death of close family members to ended relationships with the men she loved. This book is a fast pace read that opens a door for the older generation to mingle with the young, as in Lacy relationship with her grandmother. Throughout the story you will find yourself laughing and questioning things you could see in yourself or someone you know. A well written book with a story that inspires!!!

Bulletproof Soul is the debut novel by Up and Coming Author Michelle Buckley, it is a story that all mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, best friends etc etc should read. Lacy Foxx is a reporter at the Metro Tribune and while her career may be successful, her personal life is in shambles. She's broken up with her fiancé Sebastian, lost their babies, and nearly lost her mind but despite everything, Lacy is determined to move on with her life until the day she meets Wynnton Trust at the local Youth Center after doing a feature on him for the paper. Even though, things between them get off to a rocky start, they give in to their attraction until Lacy's baggage once again catches up with her and she pulls away from him. Eventually, they begin their relationship and Lacy once again learns the old-age lesson, if it's too good to be true, it usually is. After Wynn is in a life or death situation, a BIG skeleton comes falling out of his closet and causes Lacy to question whether Wynn is truly the man she thought he was. She winds up making a mistake that could cost her their relationship. They break up to make up until an unexpected event shakes Lacy to the core and once again, she has to decide to either give up or start over. Bulletproof Soul is a remarkable story about one woman's journey to recapture her spirit, and learn from her mistakes. Lacy is the kind of the character that you will root for as no matter how many times life knocks her down, she gets right back up. This book is a must-read! It will make you laugh, cry, just sit and shake your head and cheer as Lacy finds her "Bulletproof Soul". I give this book 5 stars!! It was chosen as BOTM for July for our reading group. A Great Read.

I'm enjoying this book! It's been some years since I've actually read one because, honestly if a book doesn't hold my attention from page one, I'm done with it. As a matter of fact I did purchase a book a few years ago to end my drought, but couldn't stay interested. I didn't even finish the first chapter. But from the very first paragraph it has held my attention, and made me laugh out loud and I'm still enjoying it. Lacy pulled me in right away with her sense of humor and I'm eagerly walking through her experiences with her, gasping, bucking my eyes and sighing. The characters remind you of people you know, have known, would like to know, hope you never know, or wish you didn't!

A Mature Coming of Age Novel ..Must Read

Michelle Buckley has entered the literary world with well written novel. We are introduced to Lacy , an upcoming reporter and her trials and tribulations of being a woman and also a professional at the same time. Lacy is trying to be her own version of " I'm every Woman " by any means necessary. I enjoyed Bulletproof Soul and encourage readers particularly book clubs to give this book a try. It will make for excellent book club discussion .
