Swedish immigrants Gustaf Adolph Johnson (1880-1947) and Selma Anna Sofia Carlson (1879-1937) built a family and a career in a Midwestern town during the early twentieth century. A central theme in this book is the story of Gust's carpentry and contracting activities, most especially the eighty houses he built. The book blends that theme with the story of Gust's family, his wife Selma and her family, and the place where they settled, Moline, Illinois. Scores of photographs and other images are included in the book.
