Walks you through all the stages of
building and setting up a computer: buying the parts, installing the CPU, memory,
video, etc, altering BIOS settings, installing device drivers, and
troubleshooting.

For those who want more than
the standard pre-built PC. Pre-built systems are often a compromise between
what the manufacturers want to sell you and what you want to buy. One solution
is to build it yourself.

Buying a copy of Building
a PC in easy steps, 4th edition
is the first step in the right
direction to build a PC. Written in concise and easy-to-understand style, this
book will take you by the hand and walk you through all the stages of building
and setting up a computer: Buying the parts and avoiding sales scams; mastering
and installing each component (CPU, memory, video, etc); altering default
settings in the BIOS for optimum performance, installing and configuring device
drivers. The troubleshooting chapter is invaluable in the event of problems.

By
the time you've finished, you will have a computer that's tailored to your
exact requirements with no superfluous features or functions.

Building a PC in easy stepsA

A very good book, easy to read and understand. Fully illustrated in color. This book is designed for a person who has little understanding of computers, and will guide them through the process of building and or putting a computer together.

Good Book!

I purchased a few "How To Books" just prior to putting my Gaming PC together. This book helped almost as much as the MOB manual did. Pretty easy (indepth)information for the "NEWBIE" computer builder. Now all I need is a book on "How to" install incomplete\defective OS software.

Especially the part about WINDOWS supplied by computer manufacturers such as DELL and GATEWAY, more probably. If windows included with your purchase are not on MICROSOFT OEM CD, the full WINDOWS can't be restored. That alone has helped me. I might be slow but nobody ever told me that...

Absolutely usefull, excellent for its price

I didn't buy the book yet, but I read a good chunk of it at a bookstore today! I mean I end up reading it since it was soo good, instead of looking at others! I was shopping for a recent one on PCs. I purchased "Building perfect pc" 2004 edition for 10 bucks (discounted) last week. That is a very good book as well, but as expected it is not timely for selecting today's hardware. Hence, I still need more help for selecting...
