What an absolute treat.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. The first thing I did after finishing this book (after drying my eyes) was to order the next two books in the trilogy. The characters are so well created that they become your friends and you are completely absorbed by their story. You won't be disappointed.

Engaging!

Reading this was fun! It completely transports the reader to a remotely familiar place and time, adding mysteries, twists and turns. People are introduced much like those we all knew growing up, and yet not quite like anybody else. The personalities and subtle surprises captivate the reader; a very satisfying tale. Set aside the weekend and start reading early; you won't want to put it down until you're done and you won't want it to be over when you've read the last page. Am looking now for a copy of "Discovering Mattie," Mr. Marks' previous book.
