I highly recommend this for adults and for young people

There is so much of our background that most of us have little knowledge about. As a well-past-21-years of age, I found this particularly interesting. My parents were young during the '30's and told me of some of what their families lived through, including the summer that so little would grow that green beans were almost the only food they could put up for winter. This book, though intended for young people, offers how those thin times affected different groups of our own people, how they coped. The era determined so much of what has developed in our country since that awful time. It's well worth some time to read.
