Insightful Book Shows the Thoughts of This Great Witness of God: Reggie White!

Reggie White was a dedicated Christian who used his football fame and influence to help spread the Gospel! This brief book shows his thoughts on social issues concerning the African-American community. I am not African-American, so I am just a curious bystander paying attention to what Reggie is talking about, but not necessarily able to directly relate to the African-American audience which this book is focused on. As a fan of Reggie White, strictly for his dynamic, relentless Christian ministry work, I find this book very insightful as to the thoughts and heart of a very caring and sincere Christian--Reggie White. Reggie writes about the history of Black Americans trying to make their way in America, despite the pressures and social injustices. He also writes about the Civil Rights Movement, and where things stand today with those efforts and some of the famous Black Americans involved. Reggie puts in plenty of Bible anecdotes, and many stories from his own family and life, to help make his point. I did not realize that the Rev. Jesse Jackson is viewed by Reggie (and others) as more of a self-serving individual, though Jackson tries to promote himself as a selfless crusader for Black Americans. It is surprising to read that kind of "in-fighting" among Black Americans, but that just goes to show how much I realized that I do not know about the culture of Black Americans. I just never really paid any attention to Jesse Jackson, but now I know what Reggie White, and others, think about him. I feel like I got an insider's perspective from Reggie White. Sometimes I was surprised that Jesse Jackson would be getting criticized in a book by Reggie White, but then, again, who in their right mind would confront a 6' 5", 275 lbs., Hall of Famer, Defensive End, face to face? Reggie writes about how Black Americans need to get their lives straightened out, politically and spiritually speaking. Though I am just a bystander concerning the Black American culture, I can fully keep up with Reggie when he talks about applying the Bible teachings on how to live correctly. The Bible straightened me out and turned my life around during the last 8 years, so I know that the Word of God can do the same for anybody who has the guts to follow Jesus instead of what the world tries to teach us--against what the Bible teaches us! Though Reggie is foremost a Christian, in my mind, this book focuses more on the Black American situation than on the Bible, though plenty of Bible references show up everywhere, throughout the book. This book is not too long. It is kind of like an expanded speech, not like some huge writing endeavor of a strictly professional author, intellectual, social/political commentator. This book is briefer than most books by professional writers, but it is about average for retired Footballers turned author/activist for their beliefs. Another similar ex-footballer, Christian author whom I like is Bill Glass. Reggie White was a great Christian man
