Wonderful, moving account of a young girl's immigration

I bought this book for my 13 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it and recommended that I read it. The story is a moving account of the trials and tribulations of a Scandinavian family's emigration to the United States in 1904. The helpless feelings of trying to cope with illness, diminishing funds and the bureaucratic process in a strange environment are captured very well. A real testament to the character of the early immigrants to the United States.
