I LOVE Don & Audrey Woods and have been a fan of their books since I sold Discovery Toys in the 80s. I even met them! This book, however, is NOT up to their usual standard. DEFINITELY not for kids. In fact, now I am contemplating giving it away versus throwing it in the trash. I will probably do the latter. Not sure what they were going for here, but it's certainly not "The Big Hungry Bear", "The Napping House", or "Quick as a Cricket"!

Extremely disturbing book

Takes place in a graveyard. Pictures are strange and disturbing. This book is not for my kids or family.

Audrey Wood

The seller shipped the book promptly and it was in great condition. Audrey and Don Wood are wonderful.

Your children will love it, even after the 200th read

This is one of our favorite books. My son laughs and laughs as he finds yet another nonsensical element in the prose or the pictures. People dancing at their funerals with naked potatoes wearing gaberdine pants is morbid? Buy a sense of humor people. Seriously, these other people must laugh at the jokes on Funniest Home Videos. If you and your child like things that make you think and laugh, don't revere the obvious or banal, and don't think literal equals good, this is a magnificent work.

A Twisted Tale

While I was reading this book, the poem "Late Last Night, In the Middle of the Day" kept going through my mind. I love word-twisted stories and poems, and this book fits into that category perfectly. For the readers who say that this would be frightening to children, you need to keep in mind that the story is set as a dream. I've read this book to very young children (under five) who've loved it and not found it frightening at all. Children understand that crazy, twisted things can happen in dreams. I think that it can also be a useful tool in helping children understand that strange and frightening things in dreams can be looked at in a lighter way. The illustrations are supurb, as Don Wood's work always is, and a wonderful blend of oil and CG.

The book was great, everyone should read it!

The story Bright and Early Tursday Evening is about a girl that woke up and dreamed she was dead. She dressed to go to her funeral. After her funeral a potato from Idaho dropped in.The potato said, "Let's eat,I'm thirsty." So she gobbled him down in one bite. A crocodile said "That sranger was my best friend. "I didn't do it," the girl laughed in remorse, "And I'll never do it again." I enjoyed this book because I like tangled tales and I like how the author wrote the book. I would recommend this book to another fourth grade student if they like books about funny stories and tangled tales. If I could change anything I would change the girl eating the potato in one bite. It sounds gruesome and not right. The book was great! Iloved it!! Everyone should read it!!!

Wonderful artistry and humourous text create a magical world

A long time fan of Don & Audrey Wood, I eagerly awaited their most recent book and I was not dissapointed. The digital artwork created by Don Wood was utterly amazing. The realism and attention to detail that is found in his paintings is maintained in his computer generated paintings. His illustrations perfectly match Audrey's humourous and fantastical text. As a college student studying illustration, I view Don Wood as one of my major sources of inspiration and can only hope to achieve the wondrous feelings found in his paintings in my own
