This series debut has it all!

I just flew from Texas to California, very pleasantly absorbed in Susan Goodwill's debut cozy, "Brigadoom"--and grateful I didn't inhale an airline peanut while laughing out loud! How can you not love a heroine who, though in the throes of "post-romantic stress" (kudos to the author for that apt phrase!)will stop at nothing to preserve her elderly aunt's dignity--and an historic old theatre? Even if it means dumpster diving, brandishing a paintball rifle, snapping photos of a Naked Bandit . . . and playing Deputy Dawg to the hunky lawman who once stomped on her heart.And isn't above hauling her to jail when the finger of suspicion points her way. The story's pace is envigorating, the secondary characters (including the pound-save dog with a taste for cocktail wieners and chili, and the howlingly funny Anger Managemment guru, Dr. Al)quirky and sympathetic, the mystery well-plotted, and the ending very satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed Brigadoom and can't wait for the next Kate London mystery!

Fantastic New Series!

Susan Goodwill's Briga-DOOM is quirky, clever and smart, a laugh-out-loud romp through the the life of Kate London, whose world has been knocked off kilter by a philandering fiance, a charmingly eccentric grandmother with a penchant for drama and disaster, and a murder wrap. The unexpected, inspired twists kept me turning pages to see how Kate would extricate herself from each crisis, but the writing is something to be savored. Briga-DOOM will certainly be a comedic mystery fan's dream, but Goodwill knows how to write and has something to offer to all readers of good fiction.

Laughs, Suspense, Romance. The Total Package

Love shows up to help. A really great read. True entertainment. Ms. Goodwill can tell a story AND write!

I had such fun reading this book. Susan Goodwill creates a great ride of mishaps and mystery. I look forward to reading more of her books. Her characters are quirky, the mystery interesting. When you read her work, sit back, have fun and enjoy! I love Kate and Kitty! They make Mud Lake's Egyptian Theatre shine!
