Romantic knight wins a maiden's heart

Knight Rhys DeRemy is a deliciously seductive, hero, so much so that two women at court want to marry him. King Henry forces Rhys to decide between the women or find a woman to marry in a very short while. Rhys is unhappy about this edict but finds an answer to his dilemma when an old friend asks him to repay a debt. Heroine Elaine is a special woman in many ways, she is a fighter, protector of her people and the forest and a dutiful daughter, so when her dying father says she must marry before he passes she agrees. Elaine's father has chosen Rhys for his son-in-law because he knows Rhys to be brave and honorable. Rhys agrees to the match to repay his debt but he is more than satisfied with his choice as Elaine is beautiful and unique. The leads have a most interesting marriage, there's court intrigue, jealous lovers and a mystery surrounding Elaine. Through it all the leads are supportive of each other but cautious too, Rhys wants to give Elaine time to accustom herself to their marriage and the intimate aspects of the marriage bed and Elaine is testing her feelings for her handsome husband. At times the story slows a little as Elaine is very uncertain of her desires, more so than her husband actually, and she tends to push away from her husband when confused. But overall this story has a charm due to its interesting clever characters and especially its romantic hero.

fun medieval romantic fantasy

With Eleanor gone back to France, morals at King Henry's court are nonexistent. When two wards complain to the monarch about the seductive lying Rhys DeRemy, King Henry orders his womanizer to marry immediately. At the same time he receives a royal decree, Lord Edward Chandler of Aubregate asks him to marry his daughter Eliane. Since he feels a life debt to Lord Edward who saved him when he was a lad, he agrees for he will do anything the man requests. On their wedding night, Rhys' vicious enemy Lord Vannoy and his horde attack the wedding party. Vile Vannoy searches for a treasure allegedly in the Chandler woods and will kill to obtain it. The newlyweds fight to survive while trying to insure Vannoy fails to find the ancient treasure secret that he would use to eradicate destroy mankind. Breath of Heave is a fun medieval romantic fantasy starring a charming heroic rogue and a strong woman and a depraved villain. The story line is fast-paced throughout as the audience anticipates a gender war and a good vs. evil confrontation as the good, the not so bad, and the ugly collide in Cindy Holby's enjoyable historical.
