Great, modern WWIII saga

Reviews of this novel and the series seem to be all over the place, though most are very positive. I am in the latter category. I really liked this book. The supercavitating technology is cutting edge and plausible...the technological descriptions and details of current military equipment, even the newer class ships, aircraft, armor, etc. are very realistic. I like Head's characters. Both the friendly (to the US) and the antagonists are well developed...not shallow at all. You find yourself understanding them, even those who are enemies. The book is really an exciting buildup to a climax that will stand your hair on end. The US does not fair well at all in the ending events of this novel...but you are still left with hope from a very recognizable presidential character. I am excited to see where the author goes with the rest of the series. I've already purchased the other four novels and will review each as I finish them.

Anyone who doesn't enjoy this book is UN-American

Leftnutist Liberals might not enjoy the truth in this book as it doesn't sugar coat and tree hug like the actors and authors they love.

This is remarkable writing; truly huge in depth and scope. I am really impressed with this being the author's first book.The characters are so vivid; some very fine, others just evil, manipulative and greedy. The media is represented by some who are driven by ambition; but are weak and clueless.The author is undoubtedly acquainted with some very heroic individuals because his characterization of the hero's in this book are real people. These are the kind of men and women we got to know last September.Jeff Head has made the study of geo-politics user friendly for all of us. You will be following world events by the time you finish this incredible book. We can no longer look the other way because nothing is the same anymore. We have got to pay attention.Start with this book. I have nicknamed it "Terror 101"Recently we heard about a trip a certain son of Saddam made to a certain "Axis of Evil" country where I understand they like to eat dogs. We heard about a great many weapons seized by our troops fighting Al Qaeda dogs in Afganistan. The weapons came from China. We were only made aware of this information in the past few weeks.Jeff Head was writing about this in his book last year.

Outstanding book

I just got the first volume on Friday. Within 24 hours, I had finished reading it. I thought it was great. It was tough to put down.The author uses his strong knowledge of world affairs and military systems to compose a story about the coming world war.... one that involves fighting on several fronts. The author also does an excellent job on developing characters in the book. He doesn't waste time with unimportant details about characters, but gives just enough information to make the reader feel admiration (or disgust) with them.The author shows an America that has been hurt by years of military cutbacks and poor leadership. In the book, our enemies take advantage of this weakness. Hopefully our "leaders" (which are really our "servants") will wake up before it's too late, and prevent a surprise attack on America like this book depicts.My only critism (and it's one that I have of most of the books I've read in my life) is that I wish it had more maps of the regions of interest. I'm already looking forward to reading volume two, and the ones that follow.

Gripping and prophetic....

Mr. Head combines an obvious vast knowledge of the current state of the world with an almost prophetic description of possible future events.The story line is chilling in its believability. This book can serve to entertain in the same way that a Tom Clancy novel might....but, even more importantly, it can serve as a wake up call to those who might believe that the events portrayed within its pages could not happen. They could.Highly recommended reading!
