Breakout Author: Terry DearyBy: Kryston Centis This book is about a man named Mike Baines who went to jail for selling secrets of the CIA to the Russians. He is supposed to be in jail for 40 years. When he was in his cell he was in there with a man named Larry Holtz. Mike Baines wants to get out of jail and Larry Holtz offers to help but when they were running on the track together two people tried to escape and got shot in the knees, shoulders, legs, and arms. Baines said that he wanted to go inside and go to sleep. When they got inside Baines changed his mind and decided to tell Holtz how he got in jail. There was an underground passage that secret agents could go through called the dungeon. The U.S. government was friends with Australia and Australia let them build a secret base there. Baines was mad at the CIA because they were trying to keep a secret behind Australia's back. The secret was that they were going to put up a new satellite called Argus. Baines decided that that wasn't right and told the Australians and Russians about Argus. Baines's best friend Curtis Johnson helped him. After a while they were selling more secrets. The CIA found out what they were doing and sent them both to jail. The way Holtz helped Baines out of jail was he made a paper head and dug a hole in the court yard. Baines would hide in the hole until it was dark and cut the wires away to escape. He would also put grease on one of the wires to bring down the motion detectors. Mike Baines escaped and Larry Holtz never saw him again. The main characters are Mike Baines and Larry Holtz. Mike Baines used to work for the CIA before he got sent to jail. He seemed like a nice person but he just didn't like to show it. Larry Holtz is a very helpful person. He never went to college, and he didn't have a lot of friends. The main problem in the story is that Baines wants to get out of jail but he couldn't think of a plan. Another problem is that some people thought that he was a traitor because he sold his countries secrets to the Russians. The way they solved their problems was that Holtz helped Baines get out without a problem and Baines didn't really solve this problem because he didn't let it get to him. I would recommend this book to any one who likes interesting books and to people who like reading about spies.
