Typical High School Life

This book is one of the best books that i have ever read. It shows what happens during a high school day. It portrays real life , and takes the reader on ride through the life of Baby , and Casey. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to go back to a simpler time.

Kristens Review

I feel that i could sit and read this book thousands of times! I loved reading it and just couldnt put it down! The characters in this book reminds me of the people and groups in my school. Sometimes kids can be so sterotypical and judge people without even getting to know them, just because of the way that they look. I normally hate reading books but i didnt mind reading this one because i was acually able to relate this to my life in various ways concidering i am i high school student. Im sure that if you choose to read this book you will love it as much as i did!

A Powerful Story

I feel that this is a powerful novel about the reality of human realtionships. The characters were drawn with truth, and were very sympathetic. The dialogue was realistic enough that I forgot I was reading a book and was surprised to look up and find myself at home. They sounded like the people I know, who are not stupid, but who are very deserving of respect. The Clan was deeply frightening, not because of physical violence, but because of psychological violence. I can't think of anything that frightens me more or makes me more sick inside than when the people you love and trust not only put their own interests before you, but do not protect you. Instead of loving you, they use you to strengthen their own worlds, not even caring about what it may do to you. The cold love of the Clan was deeply disturbing to me. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in realtionships between people, in self-truth, and in standing up for the right thing. It is about people who just want to be normal and happy, something that is a rare accomplishment in this world, where people care more about themselves than they do about caring for the other person.

Breaking Rank - A Wonderful Book!

I thought Breaking Rank was an excellent book! It tells about a teenage boy, Baby (Thomas) who belongs to a "gang", though that's not the write word. It's more of a clan, and the boys in it have their own rules, about not participating in school, dressing in black, and not speaking in public. However, one day Baby takes a step and fills out a test - and is moved from special ed to the gifted program! A bright, pretty girl named Casey tutors him, but it's still a hard journey for Baby, breaking away from his clan. That's not made easier for him when the clan finds out, nor when the boys in his class get upset - especially when he and Casey begin to spend a lot of time together. It's very tense and exciting. I gave this book five stars because it was so well written! I would recommend this book to anyone aged 12 and up.

A must read that is captivating and intense!

When I started this book I was told that I would "fall in love with Baby." And not only did I fall in love with Baby, but with the entire book as well! This is one of the best books I have read lately. The story of Baby's struggle to become himself and his relationship with Casey is so captivating and honest that I could not put this book down! The intensity of the book often took my breath away and the superb writing realistically portrays the fierce and earnest emotions of teenagers. Read this book and you will not be disappointed!
