Book Overview

In 2003, a backhoe operator hired by the state of Washington to work on the Port Angeles waterfront discovered what a larger world would soon learn. The place chosen to dig a massive dry dock was atop one of the largest and oldest Indian village sites ever found in the region. A balanced, thorough and moving description of the event.

During the controversy I had the privilege of attending a number of events and to be witness to the courage and dignity of the Elwha Klallam Tribe. I thought this book was a thorough and fair description of what happened. I also think Doug MacDonald is an honorable man. The book is also engagingly written. I'm sad that a complaint about delivery service is being counted as a book review. That comment belongs in rating the vendor, not here.
