Incredible

I cannot tell you the last time a novel actually made me cry. This book is a masterpiece, both in the prose and in the plot and the ending. Simple premise involving brother and sister whose lives take completely divergent paths, but are entangled in ways they didn't know. I'm not sure how I found this book, but it has been a DECADE since I stayed up at night to finish. Then I flipped back to the beginning and read it again. I may sound like I'm gushing, but I can't emphasis enough how much this book impressed me and made a lasting impression. Don't hesitate - order it!

Bread for the Baker's Child is a compelling and haunting book... I purchased several copies of this book to give as gifts to friends (which included his most recent novel titled The Pig Did It), one of whom emailed me recently to say that from the very first page, he was under "the charm, the spell..." and thus wanted to know where I had found such treasures (I also gave him a copy of The Pig Did It)! Mr. Caldwell is truly an extraordinary writer. His writing is exquisite and his story telling power is nothing short of amazing. Thus, I recommend his books highly.
