Well Bottled

Just finished Bottled Walla last nite at 2am, mostly confident that the indigestion the kept me up was wholly unrelated to the book. I was worried about sustainable competitive advantage here, but am confident in telling you that Bottled Walla is even better than Sam's first book, Welcome to Walla Walla...Annie Dillard and John McPhee look out: Sam's perambulations with Mike the forester had me longing for a meaningful tree counting expedition of my own or least for a chance to see Sam crawling uphill behind Mike. WELL DONE! PS. How come the naked guy in the woods had to be named Brad? Buck would have been a better choice for various reasons. PPS. I didn't have any ground pork but made the meatballs anyway and they were mighty fine.

Chad

Sam continues to spin a wonderful yarn about building a new life in rural Washington. Having just returned from W-W in the past month, I can tell you the town is as friendly and wonderful as he writes. I highly recommend the Worm Ranch and the Oasis! Sam, thanks for the letters. Please keep 'em coming! If you haven't bought this book or its predecessor, what are you waiting for?

New Friends and Neighbors

"Bottled Walla" let me get better acquainted with Sam and his family. These are the kind of folks I would like to have as friends and neighbors. It is a perfect continuation from "Welcome to Walla Walla" that introduced me to Sam's family, his neighbrs and the area. I was torn between greedily reading it all at once like a bundle of letters, or spreading it out and savoring each letter individually. I hope Sam's work expands to a "Mitford" series with its own unique flavor. And speaking of flavor, try the meatball recipe!

A Stress Reliever?

Sam's style is delightful! It's more like a stress relief manual, you can't read just one letter, you have to keep reading until your side hurts so bad you HAVE to put it down. Thanks for book 2. . . Book 3?
