A Delicious Bite of Sexy Fun from Lynsay Sands

BORN TO BITE by Lynsay Sands Released 8-31-2010 Originally posted on [...] [...] A Harper-Collins Imprint. [...] ARC Mass Market Paperback Requested Received 8/31/2010 Read 8/31/2010-9/1/2010 I was not compensated for this review I forgot how much fun these are to read. We are not bogged down with too many of the characters with whom we are familiar from previous books in the series, only Lucian, Bricker and Marguerite are present enough to make much of a difference. If you have never read Sands you are in for a treat. This novel re-infuses life into the series. It is a different set up from the other books. And, it ends the doubts about a very big mystery. One reason I really enjoy this book is its individuality. It has always seemed that the Argeneau Immortals find mostly mortals are their life mates. There has usually been a big dilemma over being changed (How sad: being turned into a perpetually healthy, perpetually at ones peak of fitness and beauty - no cellulite, no zits. You can eat and go out in the day time, you could even go out to eat in the daytime.) The reason you need blood is that your body is filled with nanites (according to [...] a nanite is a robot built on an atomic or molecular scale, created through nanotechnology) constantly repairing any and all damage to your body and they are fueled by blood. The Argeneaus can go out in the sun but then need more blood to repair the damage. This is one of my favorite explanations for the Vampire (they prefer Immortal) change. In this book it isn't an immortal and a human hooking up and so there is more time for plot because there isn't a chapter devoted to convincing the human you are a "vampire" and that you are lifemates. The couple falling in love here are Armand (Lucian's brother) and Eshe, whose dad was an original Atlantean. So we essentially move from hello to let's go to bed in short order. The idyllic nature of finding one's lifemate is interrupted as incidents that can't be accidents start to happen. In the series it is known that Armand lost three wives, two by fire and one by decapitation. His oldest son lost his pregnant lifemate in a crash. Other Immortals have long believed that either Armand or his son Nicholas are the killers. Nicholas was found over the body of a mortal woman after his wife died, and went on the run for 50 years. Recently Nicholas was forced into turning himself and having recently met his lifemate, in he is in prison waiting to be proven innocent or executed. When Eshe, a rogue hunter, is set to Armand's remote farm ostensibly for her protection but really to investigate these deaths, Lucian seems to suspect the pair may be life mates. Maybe he is because it seems to be almost contagious. But, even as the couple grows closer, the mystery becomes more dangerous for them both. Were the late wives' deaths accidents? Armand has had his suspicions. Armand is the only family member so far who does manual labor. He even owns farms,. He is lone

Wickedly funny and sexy

Born To Bite by Lynsay Sands continues the delightful stories of the Argeneau family. Armand Argeneau has retreated to his farm to live a life of the gentleman farmer. After all three of his former wives have met with tragic deaths. He decides it would be safer for his children and extended family if he didn't have much contact with them. The head of the family Lucian asks for Armand's help he reluctantly agrees. He figures he can offer a safe place to hide to one of Lucian's enforcers. But Armand's first meeting of Eshe d'Aureus has him feeling thinks he has thought had died centuries ago. Eshe d'Aureus is sent to Armand Argeneau's farm with an ulterior motives. She is send to find out who is behind the deaths of Armand's wife's and the death of his sons wife as well. Eshe has to get close to Armand to discover the truth. The truth gets complicated when they discover that they are life mates. Armand and Eshe join forces to get to the bottom of these terrible deaths. Along the way they become targets of the evil that is closer then either of them realize. Trying to stay out of harms way begins to prove tricky, trying not to fall in love is much harder for both of them. Lynsay Sands Argeneau series if funny, witty and all out sexy. I loved this series from the first book and it has only grown deeper with each story. This story will answer a lot of questions about the past. Armand and Eshe are a treat, their chemistry and connection is very satisfying. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Kudos.

terrific vampiric whodunit

Vampire Armand Argeneau is stunned when his lifemate and two other women close to him all died mysteriously accidental. The Council sends undercover Enforcer Eshe d'Aureus to investigate the farmer as the brass wonders if Armand is a spousal serial killer. His brother Lucien enables Eshe to get onto Armand's farm as he tells his sibling that she is hiding from Leonius Livius the second who wants her dead. As she investigates her host, she and Armand are shocked to realize they are life mates. Neither is pleased with this revelation as she fears she loves a psychopathic murderer and he fears the three women he cherished were murdered by an unknown adversary who probably will make his fourth female he holds dearly the next target. When the incidents begin, Eshe wants to believe a third party is causing them, but she still has niggling doubts about her beloved as all evidence seems to point to him yet everyone who knows him including his in-laws think the world of him. The latest Argeneau urban fantasy (see Bite Me if You Can, Love Bites and A Quick Bite) is a terrific atypical entry in which the story line is more of a super investigative thriller rather than the vampire romance though the latter is a key secondary subplot. The story line is fast-paced and contains amusing interludes especially when Eshe drives Lucien crazy. Series fans will relish this wonderful tale while newcomers will also appreciate the vampiric whodunit. Harriet Klausner
