A motivating read by a first time author!

I applaud this author for his first book and hope that he takes to heart and practice the feedback in reviews and looks for the "complement" of his work and goals and not just a compliment. "Born to be Rich" is an easy read for two reasons: 1. The author is a skilled presenter with the written word. Audiences can easily track the fluidity of his "spoken" written word and 2. The material is very familiar and similar to what I have read or heard before in other books and seminars on the area of personal and professional development. The author wrote: "I am writing in one book what I had to read many books to learn and then compile. How do you put all of the success books together to become the nicest, wealthiest, healthiest, and happiest man that ever lived? "Page 78 A part of me wishes the author had not created a book trying to get other's best ideas into one place as his own! I positively believe that this author has a message waiting to be heard by the masses AFTER he stops utilizing and repeating what others have already said. The author said, "Most people are parrots. They echo and repeat what they hear others say, and they say it so often that they eventually believe they thought of it and came to that conclusion on their own." Page 56 Unfortunately, this book is full of the author doing exactly what he chided his reader not to do. On nearly every page are quotes already attributable to others. The lion's share of the chapter summary statements or "reflections on the riches of this Chapter" are quotes, principles or material from other's work. It is essential to ensure that work is properly credited and cited. Attribution is due especially when quoting scripture verses and well known quotes by notable authors and speakers. In future books I hope the author properly cites and offers the sources of the material so that the reader has an expanded opportunity to learn more about the subject matter that the author simply verbally highlighted. Roberts said, "Hold yourself accountable for attaining excellence in every area of your life. Don't settle for mediocrity. Don't tolerate average if excellence is the standard." Page 95 A special level of care needs to be taken in future manuscripts to ensure that copy errors such as typos are removed. I found the numerous and obvious typos throughout the book to be distracting and reduced the author's status as an authority on excellence. Hire a copy editor to remove typos. Hire a second copy editor to look over the final copy with fresh eyes. The books need to be excellent. One of my pet peeves with self-publishing is the failure to produce the same quality of excellent resources as what is produced by major publishing houses. Extra care and investment needs to be given to the work by self-published or print on demand authors to ensure that their materials are of the same quality and caliber of those produced with five figure budgets at major publishers like Zondervan a
