Guinness in Black and White!

The only Black and White in this book are the pints of Guinness. A wonderfully rich source of full color examples of Guinness Advertising campaigns, from Gilroy to Television. A good reference on the art of one of the most successful advertising campaigns in history. With interesting discussions on the various campaigns. A must have not only for Guinness Fans but for anyone interested in graphic design and advertising.

Guinness is good for you

First of all, Guinness is the most exotic and delicious drink there is. Call me biased, but oh the pleasure of watching it settle after pouring it into a nice clear glass! I have loved guinness ever since I had my first pint. I am also an artist, and I fell in love with John Gilroy's wonderful advertising artwork which made Guinness popular. This book is a bible for those of you who love this drink, it is simply beautiful. I catch myself looking through it, and my mouth starts to water, and before long, a fresh pint is before me. I feel lucky to have a copy of this book, as I know of nobody else that has one. 5 stars all the way baby! If you truly love the drink, love the advertising campaign, and just plain love yourself, you will have this book on your coffee table before long.

a great book of images for the discerning guinness drinker

This is a great source book for those who love: 1. drinking guinness 2. guinness advertising. It is a book primarily for those who adore every aspect of guinness's imagery. It is crammed full of pictures. It was bang up to date with the latest advertising when it was originally published last year. Unfortunately the book seems to concern itself with english language adverts, although it does contain chapters on worldwide advertising and pays homage to John Gilroy, the spiritual father of Guinness advertising. Obviously everyone's favourite advertising image couldn't be included but I doubt that there would be many disappointed or disaffected devotees. This is I believe Jim Davies second book on Guinness advertising (correct me if i'm wrong!) the first having been published circa.1981, now sadly out of print. If I was to criticise the book it would only to say that it lacks text,(it's a coffee-table book) and that at 237 pages, it is way too short!
