In about 80 pages, Dan Poynter covers the basics of working a book fair. After introducing the major shows where you might exhibit, Dan Poynter goes into the preparations you need to make, how to pick your location, what accommodations you can expect to be made by the show, how to get your booth constructed, and what signs and sales materials to prepare. He shares a number of ideas for displays and illustrates them with sample photographs. Then he deals with the actual working of the show and tips to make the most of your time there. Even though this book was printed in 1986 and I bought it to prepare for a 2004 show, I found that very little had changed in that time in the basic rules for book fairs. His ideas seemed as timely as if the book had been written just this year. I based my entire preparation for the show on this book and read the regulations given me by the show officials, and felt I was very well prepared. All in all a very valuable little guide.
